Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu show Jack Draper the career route he must not follow
Jack Draper won’t want this season to end with the form he’s in at the minute – but it’s for the best it does.
Injuries have plagued British tennis for years and arguably stole Grand Slam titles from Andy Murray’s career.
Emma Raducanu’s own issues have been well publicised since she won the US Open. Our nation’s best two players of recent times cruelly struck down.
That’s why a break will do Draper no harm at all.
He’s played eight matches in the last ten days after winning the Vienna Open title and going deep at the Paris Masters. This comes weeks after reaching the US Open semi-finals.
Draper will feel invincible and be devastated that Great Britain didn’t qualify for the Davis Cup finale later this month.
But taking a two-month break before the Aussie swing could be just the medicine needed to avoid the same fate as Murray and Raducanu.
