Andy and Judy Murray turn down chance to star on hit BBC show spin-off Celebrity Traitors
Filming of the hotly anticipated series starts next year
ANDY and Judy Murray have left the court open to Bafta-winning siblings after turning down Celebrity Traitors.
Producers wanted the tennis duo to be their first related double act for the spin-of the hit BBC One show.
Talks have failed to get Judy and Andy Murray onto the BBC show.
But they have signed up Daisy May Cooper and brother Charlie of sitcom This Country instead after Sir Andy, 37, and mum Judy, 65, decided that the trust and treachery game hosted by Claudia Winkleman at Ardross Castle in Easter Ross wasn’t for them.
A TV source said: “It’s a huge shame the talks with Andy and Judy didn’t come off but bosses are convinced Daisy May and Charlie will make brilliant players.
“They are both hilarious, witty, and of course have award-winning acting skills to boot.
“Daisy also has plenty of experience when it comes to bluffing on TV, both as Otter on The Masked Singer and a contestant on Would I Lie To You?
“The casting is still under way, but the line-up won’t just be reality stars and the usual faces.”
Daisy May, 38, and brother Charlie, 35, shot to fame in 2014 when they co-wrote and starred in This Country, which was based on their lives in the Cotswolds.
They won a string of gongs for the show, which ran for three series, including Royal Television Awards and a Bafta.
The move for a pairing who are related came after mother and son combo Diane and Ross Carson became the standout characters in the second civilian series of Traitors.
