Andy Murray gets green light for luxury Cromlix Hotel works as he wins latest planning battle
SIR Andy Murray has been given the go-ahead for work at his five-star hotel after officials ruled it posed no threat to bats.
The double Wimbledon champion, 37, applied to make repairs and alterations to an outbuilding in the grounds of Cromlix House near Dunblane.
Murray and his wife Kim applied to renovate a former stables that was being used as a workers’ cottage at the C-Listed venue.
Plans lodged with Stirling Council revealed they want to install a new slate roof on the building and fit new roof lights.
The Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT) warned roosting bats could impact plans if the creatures were discovered.
Bats are a protected species under UK law and it is illegal to kill, possess or handle them without a licence or to cause them harm or disturb their habitat in any way.
Officials have given the proposals the green light after ruling bats were not in the area and would not be impacted.
A report said: “There is no indication that there are any bats within the building or in this part of the site.
“Bats cannot be considered through the Listed Building Consent process, but an informative will be applied to alert the applicants to their duties in respect of bats.”
It added: “This particular building appears to have been used as stables in the past but is currently unused and in a visible state of repair.
