Andy Murray says being out in nature ‘really clears his head’ in celeb wellbeing campaign

Sir Andy Murray is among the stars backing ‘A Prescription For Nature’, which aims to encourage Brits to get out and about more to enjoy the benefits of being in the countryside. Sir Andy Murray serves up his preferred way to “clear his head” – relaxing in this woodland near his Surrey home.

The Scots tennis legend is among stars celebrating the mood-enhancing benefits of enjoying the natural world in a new series of photos. They were taken for the World Wide Fund For Nature’s campaign, A Prescription For Nature. Geri Halliwell-Horner is pictured sampling the “ultimate reset” as the former Spice Girl jumps through refreshing waves off the Isle of Wight. Singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding finds peace wandering the fields of Gloucestershire with dog Mara, while Body Coach Joe Wicks gets out and about in Windsor Great Park.

WWF research shows that being in nature for just 20 minutes a day is enough to improve mental wellbeing – helping people cope with stress, reduce anxiety and even boost confidence. But while 9 in 10 agree it has a positive effect, one third have time in it only weekly – or less.

Celebrities shared these fresh portraits of themselves in their favourite nature spots around the country as part of a drive to persuade Britons to get a daily dose of the natural world.

Sir Andy, 37, said that going for a walk with the dog through the countryside is perfect to clear his head from any of the stresses and strains of life at the sharp end of world tennis.
