Andy Murray masters golf challenge in tennis retirement

In retirement, Andy Murray is devoting himself to a new hobby: he plays golf – a new sporting love for the former world number one. The two-time Olympic gold medalist has no intention of stopping physical activity, on the contrary, he has expressed his intention to take up golf after hanging up his club.

After receiving his first lesson this month, he shared clips of himself playing. However, he asked for any tips he can give. In a post on Sky Sports he said it was in many ways the opposite of tennis.

“In a game we play for 100, 150 points and they are all important,” he said. “You can kind of compound your mistakes. In golf, when I first started playing……, it’s so easy to hit the rough and then I’m like, right, par four, I’ve got to try and hit it on that Green and I end up hitting the ball about 20 meters in front of me.” “And in tennis you can’t afford that either. You can’t afford for your mistakes to lead to three, four, five points in a row. I hope I can do that well on the golf course, especially because of my experience Tennis – I try not to let the mistakes show too much, but I enjoy it.”
