Victoria Beckham spices up her Paris Fashion Week champagne with a dash of her new £170 perfume
As a leading designer, Victoria Beckham has a nose for a good idea. And faced with promoting her new perfume at her Paris Fashion Week after-show party, she scented an opportunity. On Friday night, the former Spice Girl served guests champagne infused with her latest fragrance – a feat attempted before only by Chanel.
The glasses of Perrier-Jouet champagne had an edible dash of her opulent new perfume. It is thought Chanel’s Cocktail No 5 in 2009 – created from the iconic Chanel No 5 – is the only precursor to this.
The unique flavouring at Victoria’s party – concocted from her £170-per bottle 21:50 Reverie fragrance and combined with ingredients from around the world – took a year to make, according to those close to the Beckhams.
It was then dropped into the fizz, glass by glass, so that those gathered in the glorious setting of Chateau de Bagatelle – where her catwalk show had taken place – could taste the scent. One impressed guest said: ‘It tasted lovely, it was such a special thing for Victoria to do.
