Andy Murray ‘breaks golf etiquette’ at BMW Championship as he gives Strictly Come Dancing verdict

Sir Andy Murray was the star attraction at Wentworth on Wednesday when he took part in a pro-am contest before the BMW Championship. Teaming up with fellow Scottish star Bob MacIntrye, the tennis legend also played alongside Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke and English cricket icon Jimmy Anderson.

The two-time Wimbledon champ has set himself a target of becoming a scratch golfer and already plays off a single-digit handicap of seven. But some eagle-eyed fans reckon he has already broken one of the golf’s many unwritten rules.

While the sport has tried its best to shed its stuffy image in recent years, there are still sticklers for tradition. And eyebrows may well have been raised among the old guard when Sir Andy played his round in an untucked shirt.

Golfers are expected to tuck their collared shirts in during their round with some players even being criticised for their failure to comply. American star J.J. Spaun fell foul to social media traditionalists when he appeared in an untucked shirt at the Sentry Tournament of Champions last year.
