Iga Świątek is no longer the highest-paid tennis player in 2024. The Pole was overtaken by the US Open winner, Aryna Sabalenka. Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz top the combined rankings. Check how much the biggest tennis stars earned.
In this year’s edition of the US Open, Iga Świątek finished her competition in the quarterfinals, where she quite unexpectedly lost to the well-disposed Jessica Pegula. Iga Świątek dethroned The winner was Aryna Sabalenka, for whom it was her second Grand Slam triumph this year. Thanks to her triumph in New York, the Belarusian tennis player earned as much as $3.6 million. This made the second racket in the world the leader in the ranking of tennis players’ salaries in 2024 with a result of USD 7.98 million. The Belarusian is third in the combined ranking with men. Iga Świątek, who won one Grand Slam tournament this year, fell to second place. For her triumph at Roland Garros, the player from Raszyn won just over $2.5 million. For the US Open quarterfinals, Polka was paid “only” PLN 530,000. In total, in 2024, the leader of the WTA ranking earned $7.52 million.
Sinner at the financial top, Alcaraz is moving up in the all-time rankings Jannik Sinner is at the top of the list. The Italian collected $3.6 million for winning the US Open, and earlier added $2.1 million for the title at the Australian Open. The Italian’s total earnings in 2024 are PLN 10.59 million, but it should be emphasized that it would be higher by PLN 325,000 if it were not for the detection of an illegal substance in the Italian tennis player’s body during the competition in Indian Wells and, consequently, the withdrawal of points and cash prizes.
In second place is Carlos Alcaraz ($8.16 million). This year, the Spaniard “shared” the Grand Slam titles with Sinner, winning in Paris and London. It is worth emphasizing that 21-year-old Alcaraz has “raised” as much as $35 million from the court throughout his career, which gives him 9th place in the all-time ATP rankings. Apart from Sabalenka and Świątek, there was only one tennis player in the top 10 – Jasmine Paolini. The Italian is the absolute revelation of the season. The finalist of this year’s Roland Garros and Wimbledon earned $4.67 million. Of course, this is not the end of the season. The competition between the top tennis players in the world will move to Asia, where it will be possible to earn more millions. The season will end with the final competition for the best eight players – the ATP competition will take place in Turin, and the WTA competition will take place in Riyadh.
