Who Sits in Iga Świątek’s Player’s Box?

Iga Świątek is the best women’s tennis player in the world right now, but isn’t thinking too far ahead. She won the French Open, a bronze medal in the Paris Olympics, and tournaments in Doha, Indian Wells, Madrid, and Rome. Now, she’s looking to capture another Grand Slam title at this year’s U.S. Open.

“I’m taking it day by day, step by step,” she told T&C earlier this year. “Always focusing on my next task. And definitely I will prepare with my team for this challenge as well.”

Here, get to know Iga Świątek’s team—a.k.a. the people who sit in her player’s box during matches.

Her coach, Tomasz Wiktorowski

Świątek has been working with coach Wiktorowski since 2022. Last year, he was named WTA Coach of the Year.

Świątek has been working with Daria Abramowicz since she was a teenager. “Iga is willing to put in the work,” Abramowicz said in an interview. “She is aware of the importance of psychology – not just mental training, but of sports psychology in general, as a big piece of the puzzle in order to succeed at top level in tennis. Even on her worst day, she is open-minded and able to process things. She is always ready to learn, and I found some ways that work well for her: to feed her with knowledge in regards to psychology. When you listen to her interviews, you can probably hear a lot of my thoughts or my knowledge that I am passing on to her. It makes me proud, obviously. That is the main trait: Iga’s urge to broaden her horizons and improve her knowledge.”
