Bioderma Teams Up with Victoria Beckham to Fete Its Famous Micellar Water

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its beloved Sensibio H2O Micellar Water, French skincare brand Bioderma tasked style-setter—and long-time fan of the product—Victoria Beckham to design a limited-edition of its famous pink-capped bottle.

“I’ve been using Bioderma’s Sensibio H2O Micellar Water for as long as I can remember as the first step to prepping my skin,” Beckham wrote on Instagram. “It’s gentle yet effective and I always have a travel sized one in my bag when I’m on the go.”

Launched in 1995 (incidentally the same year the Spice Girls signed their record deal), Sensibio H2O revolutionized makeup-removal as the world’s first-ever micellar water. What exactly is micellar water, you ask? Here’s how it works: Tiny particles called “micelles” surround and lift away makeup, dirt and oil, allowing you to simply wipe them away with a cotton pad—no rinsing required. Compared to traditional cleansers that bank on surfactants to get the job done, micelles clear out impurities without stripping or drying the skin out.

The product quickly became a fixture backstage at fashion weeks, where models, who’d have to change their makeup several times a day, were elated to find a way to gently cleanse their skin between shows (without even needing a sink!). Soon, beauty editors were bringing back several bottles of the stuff every time they went to Paris.
