Iga Swiatek addresses ‘scary’ fan incident as Pole speaks out on Emma Raducanu ejection

Iga Swiatek has spoken out after a spectator was ejected from Emma Raducanu’s second-round match in Dubai on Tuesday night.

The world No. 2 revealed that she avoided her own “scary” fan incident, and said she already takes measures to ensure her safety.

It comes after the WTA confirmed that a man who exhibited “fixated behaviour” with Raducanu was removed from the match and banned from future WTA tournaments.

Raducanu suddenly became distressed after playing two games of her second-round match against Karolina Muchova and approached the umpire while crying.

The WTA later confirmed that a man who was “fixated” on Raducanu was seen in the first few rows of the stands and had to be removed.

“On Monday, February 17, Emma Raducanu was approached in a public area by a man who exhibited fixated behaviour,” a statement from the women’s tour read.

“This same individual was identified in the first few rows during Emma’s match on Tuesday at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and subsequently ejected. He will be banned from all WTA events pending a threat assessment.”
