Iga Swiatek Unveils Custom Shoes from Roger Federer-Backed Billion-Dollar Brand with a Heartfelt Reaction

Iga Swiatek suffered a disappointing end to her season-opening Slam pursuit but her Roger Federer-backed sponsor is developing something classy for her return. With a long list of lucrative endorsers, the Pole carries ‘On Running’ as her main apparel and footwear sponsor. Ahead of scheduled participation in the Middle East, Swiatek shared photos of her latest project with the sporting giant.

The World No. 2 kicked off the season with a second consecutive runner-up finish for Team Poland at the United Cup against the USA. Despite switching gears after parting ways with former coach Tomasz Wiktorowski and joining forces with Naomi Osaka‘s ex-coach Wim Fissette, the Pole fell short of her maiden Australian Open title in the semifinals. She lost to eventual champion Madison Keys in a thrilling three-set at the Rod Laver Arena. However, it’s hardly the end of the road for her.

Seeing as she is due for participation in the Middle East, Federer-backed ‘On Running’ is creating a custom shoe for the Polish star. Swiatek took to her official Instagram handle to showcase a design render for the kicks that spelled a custom engraving on the side. “In my own era,” read the engraved phrase on the shoe.

For those unaware, Swiss Maestro Federer holds a 3% ownership stake in On Running (worth $180M in 2021), but those investments came at a heft cost for the 20-time Major winner. Fans and critics haven’t been overly fond of the company’s design language as they previously lamented their tie-dye approach to players’ official clothing line for tournaments. However, the sporting giant (estimated to be over $2 billion) boasts a star line-up of players like Swiatek and American young gun Ben Shelton.

Poised to extend her dominance outside of the clay courts, former World No. 1 Swiatek has boosted the company’s marketing among fans. Even after exiting Down Under in the semifinals, the Pole expressed taking positive learning from her experience and hoped to reverse those results in the future.

Iga Swiatek opens up about “wanting more” after Australian Open loss to Madison Keys

Polish superstar Iga Swiatek fought valiantly against Madison Keys for the race to the Australian Open finals but, unfortunately, her efforts came short against the American’s masterclass. She lost the battle 5-7, 6-1, 6-7(8), thus ending her dream run for a maiden Happy Slam title.
