How to do Victoria Beckham’s ‘turtleneck bob’ hair hack

If you’ve been bracing yourself against January’s arctic temperatures, you’ll probably have noticed a particular hair hack making the rounds: the ‘turtleneck bob’, also known as the ‘turtleneck tuck’.

Only this morning I was struck by how the only women in my train carriage who didn’t look dishevelled in today’s gale force winds had artfully tucked their strands into the funnel-neck collar of a jumper, trench coat or even just a scarf.

A hairstyle popularised by Victoria Beckham, the turtleneck bob involves either pulling a roll-neck jumper over your head and leaving the ends of your hair tucked inside. Or rolling the hair under and securing the look with the collar.

It’s essentially a style for looking chic in bad weather – and looking effortless in the process if you have a jawline-grazing bob, lob or long hair.

It’s also a quick and easy way to create a faux bob. “The turtleneck tuck is a trick that we’ve used in pictures over the years to give a ‘graphic’ look to hair, where it doesn’t actually exist,” says top hairstylist Luke Hersheson.
