LPGA Warned to Get ‘Sh*t Figured Out’ as Nelly Korda & Co Lose Golden Playing Opportunity Over Financial Issues
The 2025 schedule of the LPGA Tour was about to start, but bad news from the team has shaken the golf world. Fans were already overcoming the injury spree of the PGA Tour players, then the mysterious withdrawal from the Farmers Insurance Open, and now the LPGA Tour has shared about an event being suspended.
On Friday, 24th January 2025, LPGA shared two posts on X, one with the players sharing their expectations for the 2025 calendar year, for which fans were excited and shared their best wishes to the golfers. Another post which came hours after, shared an update of the event with an image of the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship. The event was scheduled to tee off on March 20-23, 2025, at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. However, it will be suspended as per the update.
The post shared, “FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship will not be held in March as scheduled. Canceling the event was unavoidable due to the event underwriter failing to fulfill any portion of its payment obligations to the LPGA Tour.” Furthermore, an article with complete information was linked to the post.
The details explained that the underwriter failed to fulfill the portion of payment for the 2024 and 2025 events. Even it shared that the team will work with the title sponsor and Seri Pak to explore options to reschedule the event. For fans, this is a moment of relief as the event might take place in the coming months.
Sharing a brief about it, the Interim Commissioner Liz Moore said, “We are deeply disappointed to announce this year’s FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship will not go forward in March.” While sharing about the possibility of having the event, she expressed, “We remain dedicated to bringing this event back to our schedule to honor the incredible legacy of Seri Pak, who has been a wonderful ambassador for the game and this event.”
With the team hopeful about the event being rescheduled, the fans can take a sigh of relief. However, fans expressed mixed emotions of shock and support for the league in the comments section.
