A very important history of David Beckham sooking about not being knighted.
It’s that time of year again. No, I don’t mean the new year. Big who cares!
It’s the time when the British royals announce their biggest honours.
This year, King Charles awarded the highest honour of knighthoods to England football manager Sir Gareth Southgate and iconic actor Sir Stephen Fry.
But do you know who wasn’t on that list? David Beckham. Yep, plain ol’ David Beckham — no ‘Sir’ to be seen.
More than 1,200 people from across the UK received honours in the New Year’s Day list, but Beckham was not one of them.
This is something that is set to stir some feelings in the Beckham household, as the football legend has long been pining for a knighthood.
You see, when he’s not releasing Netflix documentaries or singing ’80s pop duets, he’s tirelessly studying Heath Ledger in A Knight’s Tale (probably).
But this (non) knight’s tale is one of sadness and tragedy!
Despite already getting an OBE (that’s Order of the British Empire, FYI) way back in 2003, Beckham has a lifelong obsession with becoming Sir David Beckham.
Don’t know what I’m on about? Let’s go back more than 10 years, because David and the royal family have a long, storied past.
The time David Beckham’s very angry emails were leaked.
In 2017, Beckham’s brand came undone when a series of emails from within his inner circle were leaked by investigative journalism group European Investigative Collaborations, according to The Sun.
In some of the email exchanges, Beckham was seen raging about not being knighted by the Queen.
After Beckham missed a knighthood at the Queen’s New Year’s Honours in December 2013, Beckham shared his candid thoughts with his press chief, Simon Oliveira.
He referred to the judging committee as “a bunch of c***s” adding that he “expected nothing less”.
