Victoria Beckham’s new panic over Harper

Momager Victoria Beckham wants to keep daughter Harper close – and away from the lure of Hollywood

At just 13, Harper Beckham is on track to have the world at her feet. The teen recently voiced hopes to follow in mum Victoria’s footsteps by launching her own brand, which is reportedly already in the works, after the former Spice Girl incorporated a business titled H7B.

But while being Beckham offspring means Harper Beckham has been fast-tracked into the world of showbiz, our insider says that Victoria, 50, is determined to keep her only daughter firmly under her wing to ensure she follows the same path she did.

A source close to the star says, ‘Vic would love Harper to be a little mini-me, but she’s equally excited and terrified over her branching out on her own. A big concern for Vic is that Harper could be swept up in the Hollywood lifestyle and want to move to the US full-time, like her brother Brooklyn. Vic doesn’t think it’s premature to worry about it because child stardom can really take over. She wants Harper to follow in her own footsteps by working hard on her brand, but also keep her roots in the UK to be around her family and friends, and not forget where she came from.’

Even at her tender age, Harper has been fully immersed in Stateside life. Not only does her eldest brother Brooklyn Beckham, 25, live there with his wife, American actress and heiress Nicola Peltz, 29, but their 19-year-old sibling Cruz Beckham also moved across the pond last November to pursue a music career in LA. Of course, dad David is also co-owner and president of MLS team Inter Miami CF, which has seen his family rub shoulders with a host of Hollywood elite – including Kim Kardashian and Serena Williams – as well as recently buying a £60m mansion in the city.

And since becoming a teenager in the summer, Harper’s social life seems to have amped up. She has been pictured attending high-profile soirées with her mum in LA, and even delivered a heartwarming speech before Vic was awarded Harper Bazaar’s Entrepreneur Of The Year accolade last month. Harper proudly said of her mum’s achievements, ‘She’s built an incredible business from the ground up and has shown me the value of working hard, dreaming big and setting my standards. She’s taught me so much about what it takes to succeed. But above all else, she’s taught me to always be kind.’

And now, heat’s insider says that, despite her daughter’s inevitable exposure to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, Vic – who is also mum to Romeo, 22, with David, 49 – would prefer her to stay UK-based. ‘Harper has seen how her mum is friends with the likes of Kim Kardashian and Eva Longoria, and her sister-in-law Nicola Peltz is a Hollywood actress, so she’s interested in that whole world,’ we’re told. ‘She’s also seen her brothers fly the nest straight into showbiz careers like fashion modelling, so she is already mentioning working abroad and exploring the world by herself. But Vic goes into panic mode whenever she hears Harper talking about this because she’s terrified that she could end up going down the wrong path.’
