Andy Murray to have mural painted in his honor at childhood tennis club in Dunblane
Although British tennis star Andy Murray may have ended his career at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the former World No.1 will be immortalized at a tennis club that holds a special place in his heart.
After struggling with injuries and having several surgical procedures over the last few years, the 37-year old announced he would be calling it quits following the Olympic Games this summer. Murray competed alongside compatriot Dan Evans in the men’s doubles event, and his quest for gold came to an end in the quarterfinals where he finally bid goodbye to the sport he loves.

Knowing Murray’s passion for the sport and his contribution to the growth of tennis in his homeland, it comes as no surprise that a mural celebrating the three-time Grand Slam champion is being created at his first ever tennis club. Located in Dunblane, Scotland, the artwork features an enthusiastic Murray yelling in triumphant victory.
Murray retired following a 19-year career that saw him reach the World No.1 position and capture three singles Grand Slam titles. Furthermore, the Scotsman won two Olympic gold medals (London 2012 and Rio 2016) and led Great Britain to Davis Cup victory in 2015. Additionally, Murray won the year-ending ATP Finals trophy in 2016, and has accumulated 46 singles titles and 3 doubles titles in his illustrious career.
