Andy Roddick jokingly suggests that Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray overshadowed Rafael Nadal’s retirement

Andy Roddick suggested that Novak Djokovic made the Andy Murray announcement to overshadow Rafael Nadal. Djokovic announced Andy Murray as his new coach for the Australian Open 2025.

Roddick was speaking on his podcast when the former World No. 1 jokingly suggested that Djokovic timed his announcement to steal the limelight of his Spanish rival.

The American believed that Djokovic had no reason to announce Murray’s appointment the same weekend that Nadal retired from tennis.

“Oh, oh, oh! Rafa retired this weekend? Should we dominate the headlines at the end of that week? There was zero reason why this needed to be announced. Zero,” Roddick said.
