Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's friendship with Beckhams ended on a sour note
David Beckham and his wife Victoria appeared to have made clear where their loyalties truly lie in the royal rift.
Previously, Prince Harry shared a close bond with the former British footballer but they had a fallout after Meghan Markle accused Victoria of leaking stories about them to the press.
While there were no official comments made on the matter until the eldest Beckham child, Brooklyn, broke his silence on the feud between his family and the Sussexes.
According to an insider cited by Heat Magazine, the Beckhams are determined not to ruin anything as their friendship with Prince William and Kate Middleton grows.
“Victoria and David are determined to make sure the royals know they are on their side,” the source said., “They were very proud of Brooklyn for snubbing the question about Meghan and Harry – they don’t want anything to ruin this budding friendship.”
“For the Beckhams, being friends with the future king and queen is the ultimate seal of approval and puts them up there with the British elite, which will benefit lots of areas in their life,” the insider told the outlet.
Brooklyn had appeared on an episode of Watch What Happens Live!, where host Andy Cohen asked a question about his connections to the royals.
“Growing up, which members of the royal family did you see the most often, especially since your family is friends with Harry and Meghan?” Cohen asked on behalf of a fan he identified as Jennifer B.
In response, the 25-year-old responded, “Probably William”, referencing the Prince of Wales. Cohen followed up asking what the future king is like.
“He’s just like the sweetest guy ever. He really is. He’s really down to earth. He’s really [a] good guy,” Brooklyn said.
