Robbie Williams ‘destroyed’ as David Beckham confronts him over ‘Victoria jibe’

Robbie Williams has said he regretted cracking the gag, despite it being a 'good line' - but admitted that he could not resist being 'a cheeky chappy' on stage.

Robbie Williams has confessed that his joke about sleeping with most of the Spice Girls did not sit well with David Beckham. The former Take That star had previously quipped that he had intimate relationships with four members of the iconic girl group, a claim that was likely to raise eyebrows.

Robbie, who recently crossed paths with football legend Beckham – the husband of Posh Spice Victoria – admitted that while he regretted making the comment, he couldn’t resist being his usual cheeky self. He explained: “I used to say on stage, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, I feel very fortunate. I’m one of the only people on the planet that’s been in Take That and four out of five of the Spice Girls’. It is a good line, but it upset all husbands and it’s not true. I’m sorry, but it’s still funny.”

In an interview with SiriusXM, Robbie revealed that he bumped into David in New York last month and acknowledged that his joke had not gone down well.

He said: “I know he’s heard that line, and I know he wasn’t happy about it. It destroys a bit of my soccer-loving soul because I adore him. So for me to think that I’ve upset him or offended him in any way, I feel bad. But I’ve got to do my jokes.”

Robbie, who is married to actress Ayda Field and has four children, has reportedly had past romances with Spice Girls Mel B and Geri Horner, although he seemed coy about the nature of these relationships, saying: “I dunno if dated is what I did.”, reports the Mirror.
