The 2024 LPGA Tour season was chock full of incredible moments from start to finish. From Nelly Korda’s improbable winning streak to Lydia Ko’s pursuit of the LPGA Hall of Fame, it felt like every tournament on this year’s schedule provided a new storyline or player to root for, and with both the Olympics and Solheim Cup being contested just weeks apart, there was plenty of excitement for fans to sink their teeth into on both a global and national scale. Take a look at some of the best moments from what was an electric year on the LPGA Tour.
Tavatanakit Triumphs in Thailand
Patty Tavatanakit hadn’t won on the LPGA Tour since the 2021 Chevron Championship when she took home the Honda LPGA Thailand title last February. It was an incredibly meaningful and emotional win for the major champion because not only did it end her lengthy winless drought, but she also collected her second career victory in front of a home-country crowd at Siam Country Club’s Old Course in Chonburi, Thailand.
The Korda Streak
Nelly Korda shocked the golf world in 2024 by winning in five consecutive starts on the LPGA Tour, something that had only been done twice since 1978 by Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam. She kicked off her historic streak with a playoff victory over Lydia Ko at the LPGA Drive On Championship and then, after skipping the Tour’s three-tournament swing in Asia, Korda won again in a playoff over Ryann O’Toole at the FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
The Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 continued her winning ways at the Ford Championship presented by KCC, picking up her third straight 2024 title in regulation in Arizona. Korda won again in her next start over Leona Maguire at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards in Las Vegas and then capped off her incredible run by collecting her second career major title the very next week at The Chevron Championship. Korda celebrated that two-stroke victory over Maja Stark with a celebratory cannonball into the lake by the 18th green at The Club at Carlton Woods.
