Cruz Beckham Responds to Being Mocked Over His ‘Nepo Baby’ Song
Cruz Beckham shot back at a person who on social media said people only cared about his new song “For Ya Love” because he had famous parents.
Why It Matters
The 19-year-old, son of soccer legend David Beckham and Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, is hoping to follow in his famous mom’s footsteps by pursuing a career in music. However, some have accused him of being a “nepo baby” and getting a helping hand in the industry. The term refers to nepotism and was coined in recent years to refer to people in the entertainment industry who have famous family or friends.
What To Know
Cruz Beckham, who has long showcased his musical and singing skills on social media, released his new song “For Ya Love” on Christmas Day to mixed reviews.
TikTok user @gwdsomers posted a video of himself with “For Ya Love” playing over it and shared his thoughts on Beckham’s tune.
“Don’t get me wrong this is a good song, but you can find 1000s of bands making music that sounds exactly like this and aren’t only being heard because of their parents,” he wrote over the video.
Beckham himself responded to @gwdsomers, posting: “Fair take on it mate x just trying to make some music really.”
