Iga Swiatek teases ‘secret’ during off-season after linking up with new coach
Iga Swiatek hinted at changes to her style ahead of the 2025 WTA Tour season after hiring a new coach in October.
Iga Swiatek has kept her cards close to her chest on the ‘secret’ improvements she has been making off the court ahead of the 2025 season on the WTA Tour.
The Pole lost her world No 1 status in 2024 after dropping to second in the WTA rankings behind Aryna Sabalenka, despite winning the French Open for a third year in a row.
The 23-year-old paid the price for early third-round exits at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, while Sabalenka won two Slams in Australia and the US Open, as well as reaching the quarter-finals at Roland Garros.
Swiatek confirmed in October she would be hiring Naomi Osaka’s former trainer Wim Fisette as her new coach and the five-time Major winner has been working hard on the practice court to improve her game.
But she refused to divulge what areas she has been working on when asked by Tennis TV: “You can have your theories!” Swiatek said.
“You know, it’s a secret… we can’t talk on the camera. For sure, getting more variety on the serve and also working on my technique a bit.
