How Gray Sorrenti, 23, won Romeo Beckham’s heart
She’s hit headlines after locking lips with David Beckham and Victoria Beckham’s son Romeo Beckham in New York City on Saturday.
But the former footballer’s new flame, model-turned-photographer Gray Sorrenti, 23, has already made quite a name for herself in the fashion industry.
She’s shot for a slew of big magazines and brands including Calvin Klein, Saint Laurent, Harper’s Bazaar, WSJ Magazine, and i-D, and she has had her work featured on billboards across New York, Los Angeles, and Paris.
The celeb-approved photographer, who boasts 123,000 followers on Instagram, also isn’t afraid of showing some skin on camera as she regularly shares daring snaps on her social media platform, including several naked pictures.
Daughter of renowned fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti, 52, who’s best known for shooting Kate Moss’ Calvin Klein Obsession ads back in the 90s, nepo baby Gray has previously insisted she’s not in her chosen career because of her father.
Instead, she’s claimed the passion for her profession ‘kind of naturally came to me’, adding to Business of Fashion in August: ‘I didn’t become a photographer because my dad’s a photographer.’
Romeo and Gray were first linked last month after being spotted alongside one another at the YSL after show during Paris Fashion Week – but they’ve previously already worked with one another.
So while it’s unclear how they met, Gray previously took photos of Romeo for a Saint Laurent campaign in July 2022, and the lovebirds’ parents are friendly with each other.
Gray’s father Mario shot the campaign for Posh Spice’s first collaboration with Reebok in 2019, while the fashion designer has followed her son’s new flame on Instagram for years.
Meanwhile, a resurfaced picture showed David and Victoria at an event with Gray’s parents five years ago.
The Beckhams were joined by photography couple Mario and his wife, artist Mary Frey, at the launch of Reebok x Victoria Beckham in Manhattan.
Two years prior to that, Romeo’s brother Beckham was also spotted out at an event with Gray’s father Mario.
Brooklyn and Mario posed for snaps at the launch of his and supermodel Kate’s OBSESSED Calvin Klein fragrance at Spencer House, London, in 2017.
Gray grew up in Riverdale in the Bronx with her father, brother, and mother, and attended an elite private school on the Upper West Side, where she mingled with other celebrity children, including Maya Hawke.
She recalled spending a lot of time on sets with her father as a child to Document Journal, explaining, ‘I played, bugged the stylists, chatted with the models, hung out with the hairdressers and makeup artist.
‘I witnessed his whole beautiful process of creating an image, studying light, connecting with his subjects, researching, editing, printing and his meticulous layouts.’
She started taking photos herself when she was 13 years old, and she would often capture various events and people around New York City.
‘From an early age, I was intrigued by imagery and film,’ she told Elle magazine. ‘I would spend hours in my tiny room setting up scenarios and acting them out, so I guess that’s where it started.
‘I can’t ever remember not being surrounded by beautiful mind-bending images that are forever ingrained in me.’
