Months after Iga Swiatek’s doping fiasco, her present coach Wim Fissette drops his candid comment on the Polish star’s present mental state. Swiatek tested positive for Trimetazidine, a banned substance that allegedly entered her system from contaminated melatonin. Swiatek was found positive in August but she claimed her innocence since the beginning. The Polish star was suspended from September 12 to October 4th. Given she proved her unawareness of the contamination, the ITIA reduced her punishment. However, the ordeal impacted Swiatek’s mental state leaving her in a negative spot mentally. The manufacturer of the contaminated melatonin supported Swiatek’s plea and confirmed the banned substance was present below the permissible amount. .
Despite the tussle and troubles, Swiatek returned to her fighting spirit and started practicing for the next season with a new zeal. In a recent interview with Onet Przegląd Sportowy, Swiatek’s recent coach reflected on the player’s condition. “I think she’s in a great place. Sure, when the announcement came, it was terrifying for her because she’s been so professional her whole career. And then something like this happens. You don’t want to have a bad image on tour, but you know that some people think badly of you, so it’s hard. But to me, it looks like she’s in a great place now,” said the Belgian. His statement showcased his disappointment about how the entire thing created a bad image of the WTA star despite her true-to-the-sport attitude throughout her career. However, he also revealed that Swiatek has progressed from her previous disappointed state of mind and currently focusing on making her 2025 an impressive one.
