WATCH: A sneak peek into Nelly Korda’s custom-made putter design process
Nelly Korda started the 2024 season with a Scotty Cameron Super Select Squareback 2 putter and won six tournaments, five in a row. However, after a period of poor performance, she decided to change putters and TaylorMade made her a custom Spider Tour X mallet putter.
It is a club that incorporates the cutting edge of technology. Recently, TaylorMade posted a video clip on its X account, showing the assembly process of Nelly Korda’s putter, which reveals many of the details to be considered.
In the video, you can see that the assembly of all components of the putter is done completely by hand. Several details of the Spider Tour X by Nelly Korda are also revealed, such as that it integrates an L-neck hosel, has a head weight of 553 grams, its lie angle is 70°, its loft is 2.5° and its length is 34 7/8 inches.
Nelly Korda debuted her new putter at the 2024 AIG Women’s Open, where she returned to form. Korda came into that tournament with three missed cuts in her previous four LPGA Tour events, including two Major championships.
The World No. 1 finished in a tie for second place on the Old Course at St Andrews. Her putts per round average of 32 was very good for the weather conditions reported during the event. The winner of the event, Lydia Ko, averaged 31 putts per round.
