Victoria Beckham recently made a heartbreaking confession about her son Romeo Beckham during her appearance at the 2024 Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards.

In conversation with The Mirror, the mother-of-four has revealed that her family had to deal with huge public backlash after her husband, David Beckham was dropped off from England’s team in the 1998 World Cup.

Victoria shared that she couldn’t bear the thought of her son, Romeo, being publicly bullied the way David suffered after his major exit from the team.

Moreover, she revealed, “I mean, when it happened, David was the same age that Romeo is now.”

Victoria added, “But the thought of my Romeo having to go through it… I don’t know how he would handle that. I don’t know how anyone would handle that. But we didn’t have a choice.”

For the unversed, David and Victoria’s son Romeo has also pursued a career as a footballer.

Speaking more of her hard times the former Spice Girls singer remarked, “You have to go through those times to make you, ultimately, who you are.”

“We’ve kind of figured out how to be quite discreet, which is just how we want to conduct our lives right now,” Victoria remarked.

“I suppose it used to be fun to go out and be chased by paparazzi walking down Bond Street and you would dress knowing you were going to get that. I don’t want that anymore,” the fashion designer concluded.

David and Victoria got married in 1999. The couple shares four children named Brooklyn Beckham, 25, Romeo, 22, Cruz Beckham, 19, and Harper Beckham, 13.
