Victoria Beckham: I started to care less about fame once I turned 50
Former Spice Girl says she and husband David have figured out how to be more discreet
Victoria Beckham has said she started to give less of a “s—” about fame once she turned 50.
The Spice Girl turned fashion designer, who celebrated her 50th birthday in April with a party said to have cost £250,000, insists she is “too busy” to worry about being in the public eye in the way she used to.
She told Harper’s Bazaar magazine that she and David, her husband, have “figured out how to be quite discreet” now, which she explained is “just how we want to conduct our lives”.
The cover star, who will receive the Entrepreneur prize at the magazine’s Women of the Year Awards on Tuesday, added: “I suppose it used to be fun to go out and be chased by paparazzi walking down Bond Street – and you would dress knowing you were going to get that. I don’t want that any more.
“I’ve been doing this too long. I suppose I did when I was growing up but, nowadays, there’s just too much going on; too busy; too many kids to worry about.”
“I woke up at 50, and I gave a s— less.”
The fashion designer has been a staple A-list name alongside her husband, the former England midfielder turned football club owner, since the late 90s.
The couple, who have four children together, are now much more focused on their business ventures than their celebrity status.
Speaking about her fashion and beauty business finally turning a profit as sales soared by 52 per cent last year to £89 million, she said it was a “huge accomplishment”.
