Tennis: 2024 WTA Finals Riyadh – full schedule, all match scores, and results
Aryna Sabalenka started her campaign in the Saudi capital with a straight-sets win over Olympic gold medallist Zheng Qinwen. Find out when reigning champion Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff are in action.
The WTA Finals 2024 (2-9 November) are taking place in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.
The top seven women’s singles players, plus Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova, and eight doubles pairings are in town, aiming to be crowned the 2024 year-end champions on the WTA tennis tour.
Every day will see four matches played at the King Saud University Indoor Arena until the day of the finals on 9 November, where the end-of-season event winners will be crowned.
The Finals got underway on Saturday (2 November) with Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Ellen Perez needing a champions’ tiebreak to spring something of a surprise against Hsieh Su-Wei and Elise Mertens.
Aryna Sabalenka opened with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Zheng Qinwen. That made it four wins out of four this year for the world number one against the Paris 2024 Olympic champion.
Iga Swiatek, now number two in the world, faces Krejcikova on Sunday with Coco Gauff taking on her compatriot and doubles partner Jessica Pegula.
World number four Jasmine Paolini will be the busiest player in Riyadh. She meets Elena Rybakina on Saturday before partnering Sara Errani – with whom she won Olympic gold in Paris – for the start of their doubles campaign on Sunday.
