Celebrity Traitors signs up award-winning actress and her brother after shock rejection from Sir Andy Murray and his mum Judy
Celebrity Traitors has reportedly signed up award-winning actress Daisy May Cooper and her brother Charlie.
BBC bosses are said to have been desperate to bag a family duo for the first British star-studded version of the show – fronted by Claudia Winkleman.
However they were left disappointed when Scottish tennis star Sir Andy Murray and his mum Judy turned down the opportunity.
BAFTA-winning actress Daisy, 38, and her brother Charlie, 35, starred alongside each other in the documentary-style comedy This Country – which they also co-wrote.
A source told The Sun on Monday: ‘Bosses are convinced Daisy and Charlie will be great players.
‘They’re hilarious, witty and have award-winning acting skills.’
The Cooper siblings are expected to feature in the show alongside Clare Balding, Tom Daley, Stephen Fry and Robert Peston and filming is set to begin next year.
The news came hours after The Scottish Sun revealed mother-son duo Andy and Judy had rejected the offer to star.
A source said: ‘It’s a huge shame the talks with Andy and Judy didn’t come off but bosses are convinced Daisy May and Charlie will make brilliant players.
‘They are both hilarious, witty, and of course have award-winning acting skills to boot.’
The Mail on Sunday revealed last month that former QI host Stephen would be joined by a host of other well-known names for the show, to be broadcast next year in a nine-part series.
It is understood that host Claudia was ‘super keen’ for him to feature and insiders say he ‘is definitely taking part.’ He is said to be ecstatic at the idea.
A source said: ‘Stephen is the perfect contestant. He’s so clever and so cunning. Claudia absolutely loves The Traitors.
