Andy Murray lifts trophy after switching sports and provides two-word update

Andy Murray, the former world No 1 tennis player, has swiftly transitioned to a new sporting challenge following his retirement from tennis in August.

The three-time Grand Slam champion has traded his tennis racquet for golf clubs, already making waves in his new pursuit.

Murray recently clinched his first golf trophy at the BTJA Mike Dickson Golf Day event, a remarkable achievement for the 37-year-old Scot.

This inaugural tournament, held at Hanbury Manor Golf Club in Hertfordshire, was organised by the British Tennis Journalists’ Association to honour the late journalist Mick Dickson.

Murray’s dedication to his new sport is evident in his current seven handicap, a respectable level for a newcomer to golf.

The Dunblane native is taking regular lessons to refine his skills and has received valuable advice from professional golfer Bob MacIntyre.

Following their pairing at Wentworth, MacIntyre expressed his admiration for Murray’s abilities, stating, “For someone that’s not really played that much, I thought he was good.

“I was very impressed with his game. He’ll be scratch in no time.”

Murray’s golfing journey has already seen him make his PGA Tour debut at the BMW PGA Championship’s Pro-Am event at Wentworth.

The former tennis star teamed up with celebrities, showcasing his newfound passion on a professional stage.

Murray has been keeping his fans updated on his progress through social media.

On Instagram, he shared a video of his impressive tee shots, captioning it “Slight progress”.
