Tennis star disagrees with Andy Murray over ‘inevitable’ Saudi Arabia role amid historic tournament prize
Saudi Arabia is currently playing host to the Six Kings Slam which offers the biggest monetary price in the sport’s history as the likes of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic face off.
Tennis star Casper Ruud believes it is ‘inevitable’ that Saudi Arabia will play a significant role in the future of tennis.
The Middle East nation has increasingly grown its profile in global sport with their public investment fund launching LIV in golf, investing in Newcastle United and have announced partnerships with both ATP and WTA tours, while a disputed £1.5billion offer to buy the tours was rumoured.
Regardless, this week sees Riyadh hosts a tournament including the world’s best players. Retiring Rafael Nadal is in line for a £4.6million pay-out if he can win just two matches in the Six Kings Slam.
