Victoria Beckham’s CEO, Marie Leblanc, is stepping down from her position after five transformative years at the helm of the fashion brand. According to the company’s announcement on Monday, Leblanc is leaving to return to France, where she plans to spend more time with her family. During her tenure, Leblanc played an instrumental role in reshaping the brand and setting it on a path toward growth, but she is now making a personal decision to shift her focus away from the business world.
Leblanc initially joined Victoria Beckham in 2018 as product director and was promoted to CEO just a year later. In her leadership role, she guided the brand through a crucial period of evolution. One of her most notable achievements was the strategic repositioning of the brand to make it more accessible. She led initiatives to expand into lower-priced categories, including the introduction of small leather goods and fragrances, which broadened the brand’s appeal and helped drive increased revenue.
Under her leadership, Victoria Beckham saw a significant boost in sales. Last year, the brand experienced a 52 percent rise in revenue, bringing in £89 million ($116 million). Despite these positive developments, the company remains loss-making, indicating there is still work to be done in achieving profitability. Nevertheless, Leblanc’s contributions have been widely recognized as setting a solid foundation for the brand’s future.
According to the latest financial report, Victoria Beckham’s namesake beauty brand achieved double-digit growth for the third consecutive year. In 2023, total revenue grew by 52%, from £58.8 million in 2022 to £89.1 million, while adjusted EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) reached £800,000, an 800% increase compared to £200,000 in 2022.
As Leblanc departs, Ralph Toledano, chairman of Victoria Beckham, will step in as interim CEO. Toledano, a respected figure in the fashion industry, will oversee the company while the search for a permanent successor is underway. In a statement, Toledano praised Leblanc’s impact on the brand, emphasizing that she has left it primed for “accelerated growth.” He acknowledged her efforts in expanding the brand’s product range and improving its positioning in a competitive luxury market.
