Victoria Beckham: “I don’t think anyone thinks I’ve had it easy anymore”
Perfectionist and tireless, the designer and businesswoman celebrates the first five years of her brand’s beauty division with record numbers and an exclusive collaboration with scientist Augustinus Bader. Victoria Beckham (Harlow, United Kingdom, 50 years old) confesses that she is very meticulous. Talking to her on the phone it is clear that this is the case. And that of his company, with which he started designing 18 years ago and with which he celebrates the first five of his beauty division. He answers S Moda from Los Angeles, the same day that WWD publishes its excellent results for 2023. Congratulations on those figures, in which I imagine Victoria Beckham Beauty plays an important role. Thank you. It is important yes, but fashion in itself is also profitable. At this time, when the luxury industry is suffering, I feel very proud of what we have achieved. What assessment do you make of the first years of this division? Fashion and beauty have always been my passion and my dream. I am enjoying beauty because I am very involved in every process, in the development, the commercial side, the creative part, my team, the campaigns with Steven Klein, starting with the fragrances… I could have shipped it with a license, but I decided be the owner of everything. I think I have a clear point of view about what I want and I don’t like to run or copy others. Before launching a product I have to make sure it is perfect, the best.
