Iga Swiatek continues to lead the WTA rankings

The Polish Iga Swiatek continues to lead the WTA ranking, whose new weekly classification was released this Monday, followed by the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, second, and the American Jessica Pegula, third, who faced each other in the final of the US Open with the European victory two weeks ago. The only changes in the ‘Top 10’ were the fall of the Czech Barbora Krejcikova from ninth to eleventh position and the rise of the Greek Maria Sakkari (9) and the American Danielle Collins (10). The stability of the ranking is explained by the absence of the best players from the two circuit tournaments held last week, in Monastir (Tunisia) and Guadalajara (Mexico). The Polish Magdalena Frech, 26 years old and winner of the Guadalajara tournament on Sunday, her first title on the circuit, rose to 32nd place in the world, the best of her career. The best Latin American is the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, in seventeenth place, and the most outstanding Spanish is Paula Badosa, in twentieth place. WTA classification as of September 16, 2024:
