‪CHECK OUT THE GAP KAMALA HARRIS DRAMATICALLY NARROWED IN LOWA’s PRESIDENTIAL RACE‬

BREAKING: Kamala Harris has dramatically narrowed the gap in Iowa’s presidential race, reducing Donald Trump’s lead to 4 percentage points, according to a new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll released just now. Trump now leads 47% to 43%, a significant improvement for Harris compared to Joe Biden’s 18-point deficit in June.

NOTE: Key shifts include increased voter enthusiasm for Harris and higher participation among women, young people, city dwellers, and those with college degrees, all of whom favor Harris. Additionally, 80% of Harris’ supporters are now firmly decided, a jump from June. Independent voters lean toward Trump, with notable divides by gender.

NOTE: Although Trump retains a slight lead, polling expert J. Ann Selzer notes that the race has “tightened significantly,” signaling a shift in voter sentiment.

NOTE: The sample for the Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll consisted of 811 Iowans aged 18 or older. The poll was conducted by Selzer & Co. from September 8-11, 2024, through telephone interviews with randomly selected landline and cell phone numbers. The margin of error for the full sample of 811 respondents is plus or minus 3.4 percentage points. The margin of error for the 656 likely voters is plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.

NOTE: Leading in a poll does not mean the election has been won. Polls provide a snapshot of voter preferences at a given moment in time, but they can change significantly as the campaign progresses. Factors such as voter turnout, late-breaking news, debates, and unforeseen events can all influence the outcome. Polls are valuable indicators of trends, but they do not guarantee victory. Ultimately, the only result that matters is the final vote on Election Day.
