Does Świątek have an open path to the title? Her dangerous rivals were eliminated

After a slightly disappointing performance at the US Open, Iga Świątek will face further challenges. Next week, the Pole will play in the tournament in Seoul. And as it turns out: she will have the perfect opportunity to improve her mood there. A group of top tennis players withdrew from the competition in South Korea.

The competition in Seoul has the rank of WTA500. Therefore, they are not the most prestigious, but they begin a series of tournaments in Asia, which will include one of the most important events at the end of the season – the China Open in Beijing. Świątek will definitely want to show her best side on Korean courts. Especially since she has received quite a lot of criticism recently, after a severe defeat against Jessica Pegula in New York. It seems that in Seoul our tennis player will have an open path to the title. Aryna Sabalenka, Cori Gauff and Qinwen Zheng did not take part in the singles competition, and Jessica Pegula and Jelena Rybakina withdrew some time ago. Today, however, more players who could pose a threat to the Pole were eliminated from the ladder. So Karolina Muchova and Emma Navarro – semifinalists of the recently concluded US Open. So who will Iga be afraid of in this situation? The highest-ranked tennis player in the world ranking (apart from the Pole herself, of course) who will perform in Seoul is Daria Kasatkina, the thirteenth ranked player in the world. In addition, Ludmiła Samsonowa, Beatriz Haddad Maia or Marta Kostiuk may also stand in Świątek’s way. But in general – there is nothing to hide, the Raszyn player will be a big favorite for the title. So we hope that he will actually reach for it. The exact competition schedule is not known yet, but we know that the first matches in Seoul will be played next Monday, September 16.
