Victoria Beckham, new documentary coming to Netflix
The spotlight is on Victoria Beckham who will be the protagonist of a documentary exclusively on Netflix. The doors of one of the most fashionable families are (re)opened, the former Spice Girl and the former footballer, always at the center of gossip and media interest. The series arriving on the streaming platform will focus on the entrepreneur. Here’s everything we know to date and the first rumors. Victoria Beckham, the docuseries on Netflix Currently untitled, the production will chronicle Victoria’s life, from her rise to fame thanks to her success with the Spice Girls in the 1990s to her modern new incarnation as a fashion expert. The official synopsis announces: “Her Posh Spice days may be behind her, but today Victoria Beckham is on a journey to build a fashion empire and now fans will get to see the story behind it all.” There will, of course, be numerous appearances by Victoria and her family, friends and colleagues. The docuseries will be produced by her husband David Beckham’s production company, Studio 99 (which also produced her documentary “Beckham”) in collaboration with Dorothy St Pictures.
Even the director, to date, has not been revealed. And the stylist’s point of view will not be missing. Last year, “Beckham” director Fisher Stevens said he spent 14 hours interviewing Victoria for the documentary as she took her husband from soccer star to aspiring athlete to sports and fashion icon. And he underlined how strong the bond between husband and wife was, despite gossip and rumors of other relationships on the part of the former footballer: “His relationship with Victoria has not been all rosy. There is a constant controversy. Frankly, I was quite moved by their relationship at the end of the day and, after everything they’ve been through, how much they love each other and how close they are.” In the documentary focusing on David, a short clip of an exchange between him and his wife had gone viral. In one scene, David “pushed” his partner to admit that she didn’t belong to the working class even when she was little. Indeed, in reality, she was dropped off at school and arrived in a Rolls-Royce. The heated and amused exchange between the two became a real meme on social media, shared, commented and much appreciated. Nicola Howson is the executive producer of the Victoria Beckham documentary together with Julia Nottingham. Among the other docuseries announced together with the one on Victoria, Netflix also anticipated one on chef Gordon Ramsay, on the 90s boy band Take That and on the London bombings of 7 July.
