“Schedule is really tough”: Iga Swiatek once again slams ‘crazy’ tennis schedule, suggests reform for fan experience
World number one Iga Swiatek has another rant about the tennis schedule at the US Open. The Warsaw-born star is taking part in the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. She booked her place in the second round after beating Kamilla Rakhimova in the round of 128 in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 7-6.
Swiatek, after the match, had another rant about the tennis schedule. The Warsaw-born star was of the opinion that the higher management in women’s tennis must address the issue of ‘crazy’ schedule if they want the fans to see the best players in action continuously.
“Well, it would be easy to fix it for people that are in charge,” she said. “But they already made plenty of decisions and they promised so many things to tournaments, WTA, for example, that, you know, it would mean for them to change their mind, which is tricky, because it’s business. But I think players are aware that this is crazy what’s going on, and the schedule is really tough. I think it needs to be changed, because also, I think it’s going to be better for fans. Because they’re not going to see their favourite players, like, pull out or getting injured so much, I think.”
