Victoria Beckham’s new fashion brand documentary a cry for help?
The former Spice Girl turned fashion mogul is getting her own documentary on Netflix after its success beckhams, which centers around her husband, retired soccer star David Beckham.
Her documentary is expected to offer “an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Victoria’s business, access to Victoria, her family, those closest to her and her fashion journey and including never-before-seen archive”. Radar Online notes.
The as-yet-untitled documentary also doesn’t have a director, but already has David’s Studio 99 production team and Dorothy Street Pictures. The series will be executive produced by Nicola Howson and Julia Nottingham.
However, an insider was recently informed Radar Online that while the new show is expected to give a glimpse of Victoria at work as she prepares for Paris Fashion Week in 2025, her business is weaker than it appears.
“Victoria is desperate to stay relevant and position herself as a fashion designer, despite the fact that her businesses have lost millions over the years and have to be propped up by David’s money. This deal is another attempt by her to stay in the limelight when she really isn’t a businessman,” his source said.
David, whose net worth is more than $450 million, has loaned nearly $30 million to his wife’s fashion brand over the years, the source claimed.
It is already on record that Victoria received a $5.76 million loan as well as $8.64 million in cash in the spring of 2016. Mirror was mentioned. The fashion mogul took out another $15 million in loans the following year.
The news comes in light of its pre-Christmas loss of $13 million for the year 2017, which its spokesperson blamed on “planning, marketing and sales”. Radar Online further noted.
Her brand finally took a breather as it was valued at $50 million by 2022.
Now, Netflix’s recent announcement at the 2024 Edinburgh TV Festival is again raising the question of whether the insider’s claims really have any substance – meaning are the upcoming Victoria documentaries just a cry for help?
